Heavy Duty Tow Operator

We are looking for an experienced HEAVY DUTY TOWING AND RECOVERY DRIVER to add to our growing team. Tow Truck driver must be able to be operate a heavy duty truck and perform on recoveries.

Essential Job Functions:

The duties of a tow truck operator consist of communicating with a dispatcher, driving to the scene of an accident of breakdown, connecting the vehicle to the tow truck, and transporting it back to the yard or further destination. Drivers will interact with customers, speaking to them about their automotive problems, potentially diagnosing the cause, and providing necessary assistance. A tow truck driver will need to be able to communicate well and will need to have a basic knowledge of cars and automotive parts. At times drivers will be required to perform small repairs on the scene of a breakdown such as changing tires, reconnecting parts, or jumpstarting the car. Familiarity with automotive maintenance and repair may be required. The driver will also have to write up reports of services rendered and accept payments.

Tow Truck Driver Job Summary

Our company is looking for an experienced Tow Truck Driver to join our fleet. A background in experience loading and unloading a wheel-lift and flatbed is a mandatory. Your primary duties will revolve around removing illegally parked vehicles, assisting disabled motorists with services such as changing their tires or transporting them to a nearby garage, or towing cars that have a parking or other illegal infraction. Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills to interact with customers and can manage their time well while on the road.

Tow Truck Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove illegally parked vehicles
  • Patrol and respond to calls when dispatched
  • Respond to accidents, break-downs, and other roadside incidents
  • Stay in contact with motorists when you are en route
  • Perform basic repairs or tow their vehicle
  • Safely load cars onto the back of your truck
  • Keep your truck clean and in good condition

Tow Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A valid class-C driver’s license
  • Clean Driving Record and Clean Criminal Record
  • At least one year of experience in wheel lift and flat bed
  • Strong communication and time management skills

Dispatcher Job Summary

This position is for an individual with experience in dispatching. Please do not apply if you do not have dispatch experience.

Tow truck dispatchers take calls for service, relay the requests to drivers, and monitor the progress of the tow. Using computer-aided dispatch systems, they keep records and prepare detailed reports of all calls and all communications with towing services.

Dispatchers are required to stay in touch with drivers on the road, using phones, computers, or two-way radios, so they can solve problems and answer questions. For example, they can tell drivers which routes to take to avoid traffic jams.

Required Experience:

  • Experience/knowledge of the towing/trucking industry
  • Service advisor experience
  • Prior dispatch experience
  • Ability to handle busy phone lines

Essential Job Duties:

  • Schedule and dispatch trucks for vehicle orders
  • Communicate with customers to verify vehicle ownership documentation and confirm schedule vehicle pick up
  • Monitor and update vehicle orders in system
  • Answer incoming calls related to dispatch and customer service
  • Process and enter documentation data for incoming vehicle purchases into the computer system
  • Prepare and review documentation related to the purchase
  • Maintain contact with vendors and customers
  • Confirm vehicle inventory information
  • Work under time constraints
  • Assumes other duties as assigned
